This week, our team is hard at work finalizing the details of our prototype. Our technical implementation team― consisting of Jack, Aayet, and Jess― have been working especially hard on TouchDesigner and programming our prototype so the installation is ready for next week. Today, they worked on ensuring that the tracking data from TouchDesigner is sent to Processing― which will influence the amount of Bgojinishnaabenhsag (“Little People”) that appear on screen. Next, the team will be working on figuring out how to change the size of the tree displayed on the installation based on viewers’ movements.
Our marketing and communications team spent the last few days reaching out to local businesses in Stratford to advertise our installation via Instagram and email. Today, I joined Ari and Jacob in walking around the community to distribute our postcards― including Brch & Wyn, the cafe located in the Bradshaw building― and hanging up posters as well. With this, we hope to promote our project, social media channels, and website to a wider and more diverse audience.
Our media creation team― Erin and Rachael― have spent the week working on creating a commercial for our final presentation. This commercial will involve animation to tell the story of our sugar maple tree, and thus requires a lot of work from our main illustrator Rachael. Check out a quick snippet from our commercial below!
Our social media and website have also been continuously updated this week― with both informative and behind-the-scenes post. Erin has been working on finishing up interviews for our social media channels as well as audio that will be used in our commercial. Today, I spent some time doing an interview explaining the concept behind our project. Members from each sub-team have also been interviewed in order to share their team’s progress. We’ve assigned each marketing member to do an “informative” post sharing the concept behind our project to our social media, and this week, Jacob created a post explaining the story of the Bgojinishnaabenhsag (“Little People”).
Our project managers Anika and Zoe have been doing a great job guiding our progress since the very beginning, and this week was no exception. They’ve ensured each sub-team stays on track, kept our website up-to-date with blog posts, and scheduled check-in meetings so we’re all on the same page.
Overall, despite the hecticness of finals, our team has managed to stay on track and are coming closer to finalizing our prototype for next week!
