Last Wednesday, we were sorted into different teams for project #3 and we delegated roles. After listening to our team lead, Amna, present her pitch, we knew it was a project we wanted to pursue. Other team members actually exchanged their pitch ideas, but ultimately we decided to pursue Amna’s original pitch.
After deciding on a project, my group collectively came up with a working Gantt chart to sort our project deliverables, sub-tasks, and roles and responsibilities for the project. All of the team members were involved in planning out timelines beyond the ones laid out for us in the assignment description. Although intense, this work period was highly productive.
I went home and helped re-organize the Gantt Chart to be easier to navigate as the version we made in class was quite rough. Amna helped make a whatsapp group for us to communicate in, and Zoe – the other project manager – helped create a Discord server for regular updates. The discord server has different channels for each subteam and a voice channel for our virtual meetings outside of class.
We did our first remote meeting today, on Monday October 28th. We did a round table and spoke to everyone about their progress on various tasks. Zoe went down the Gantt chart and asked if anyone had updates to share on their specific subtasks, and I documented comments in a new column. This was productive because we were able to resolve hurdles productively. For instance, team members had a chance to ask other team members questions – like Aayet needed the colour palette from Amna, and it turns out that Amna needed advice on the colour palette, so we were able to all share our input and regroup. Jacob shared progress on the website design, Rae shared her progress on the design elements, and more. Overall, it was a productive meeting.
